Monsters of Loch Lomond is a fast-paced card shedding travel game where memory, calculated risks plus clever card play help you protect your clan while pushing troublesome creatures towards your rivals.
 
Each player begins with four hidden clan cards, representing the inhabitants under your protection. Peek at two cards at the start, memorise their positions, then use that knowledge to improve your hand throughout the game. Draw from either the Open Highlands or the hidden Highland deck, swapping cards into your clan or triggering special abilities when you play a card to the Open Highlands.
 
The real challenge comes from remembering where matching cards are hiding. Whenever a card appears in the Open Highlands, any player who knows where that same inhabitant sits in another clan can quickly claim it, placing it onto the pile before anyone else reacts. This gives you a powerful way to shed unwanted monsters while forcing you to keep track of your opponents’ cards.
 
Not every high-value card is a problem. Some inhabitants offer useful abilities that can help you later, while special characters such as the Witch let you peek at hidden cards. The aim is to finish each round with the lowest score, then call “Saorsa”, meaning freedom in Gaelic, once you believe your clan is free of monsters.
 
After four Victory Tokens have been claimed, the clan with the strongest overall performance wins. With quick rules, memorable characters plus plenty of opportunities to bluff your opponents, Monsters of Loch Lomond is a brilliant family card game for 2 to 6 players.
