Decades after humankind has died out, nature has reclaimed land and a resurgance of newly evolved apes has taken hold. Tribes have been formed, human techniques mastered and there is a thirst for knowledge amongst them all.
In After Us, players will be collecting resources from their cards to unlock new elements to add into their deck to strengthen their engine. The game is played over several round with each player taking simulataneous turns consisting of three phases, Assemble the Tribe, Attract New Apes and Resting. In the Assemble the Tribe phase you will draw 4 cards from your personal deck and then lay them out before you to create a combination of frames to unlock abilities to score points, rage and claim resource to utilise later on. These frames can be already complete with them being depicted in the centre of the card or they will be only showing half a frame at the edges of the cards allowing you to create a series of frames the way you desire. After you have activated your frames you will then move onto the Attract New Apes phase. In this phase you will choose 1 of 4 action disks to use and place it face down in front of you once all players have selected their disk they are then revealed and each player gets to use the ability at the top of the disk and can attract a new ape of the type depicted on the disk to their tribe by paying the relevant resource cost, 3 of a resource for a level 1 ape or 6 resources for a level 2 ape, and adding it to the top of their draw pile. You then have the option to spend two of the same resource to gain the ability of the action disk of your neighbour to your left or right though you can only choose one ability to copy. After all players have attracted new apes and activated their abilities on their disks its time for the Resting phase where you clear the cards you played from your play area and add them to your discard pile you then move your disk to be placed with your other disks that were not used to reset for the next round. The game ends once one player reaches 80 points or more, you then resolve the phase you are currently in and then the game ends.
Can you lead your tribe to victory?
