Can you uncover the secret word before discovering who is secretly controlling the conversation? Insider is a compact social deduction travel game from Oink Games that blends 20-question style guessing with hidden roles, deception along with a race against the clock.
 
At the start of the game, players are secretly assigned one of three roles: Master, Insider or Commons. The Master chooses a secret word, then secretly reveals it to the Insider. The Commons have around five minutes to ask yes-or-no questions, working together to identify the answer while the Insider subtly steers the discussion towards the correct word without exposing their identity.
 
Once the word has been discovered, the real interrogation begins. The timer is flipped, giving the Master and Commons a limited window to discuss everything that happened during the questioning. Look back at the questions asked, examine who pushed the group in certain directions then try to identify the hidden Insider.
 
Find the Insider before the time runs out and the Master and Commons win together. Fail to uncover them, however and the Insider takes the victory. The beauty of Insider lies in the uncertainty: helpful suggestions may be genuine, while a seemingly innocent question could have been carefully planted to guide the group.
 
With simple rules, short playing time and hidden information, Insider is an excellent small box travel game for gatherings of family and friends when with people who want something that brings plenty of table discussion.
