Journey into the mysterious Carpathian mountains with Aridnyk, a mythology inspired strategy board game rooted in the legends, folklore and traditions of the Hutsuls of Ukraine. Take the role of a shepherd guiding your flock through the mountains from spring until autumn, searching for rich pastures while encountering ancient spirits, magical creatures, divine forces and dangerous challenges.

Aridnyk draws inspiration from the unique Hutsul culture, shaped over centuries by a fascinating blend of Christian beliefs, pagan traditions and rugged highlander customs. The result is a distinctive tabletop adventure filled with folklore rarely seen in modern board games. Along your journey, you may encounter the Great Wolf, outwit the Blackbird, witness Aley, the Spirit of God, split the earth with a wave of a paw or exchange magical trinkets with Aridnyk, who was said to be the brother of God at the beginning of time.

Every turn presents new tactical possibilities. Place a tile from your hand to activate its abilities, move your Shepherd, influence the Spirits, draw Plot or Trinket cards or increase your flock of sheep. Once your Shepherd moves onto a tile, its additional ability may activate, giving you another opportunity to shape your strategy.

Magical Trinket cards can provide powerful buffs when played at the right moment, while Plot cards offer additional effects when their conditions are fulfilled. Choosing when to use these abilities can make the difference between a thriving flock and a journey filled with setbacks. You’ll need to manage your movement carefully while watching the opportunities created by every new tile.

The game continues until every tile has been placed. Once the final turn is complete, all players count their sheep. The shepherd with the largest flock wins, rewarding clever planning, tactical tile placement, effective use of magical abilities as well as smart resource management.

Aridnyk offers a fresh experience for fans of mythology and folklore inspired board games that explore Ukrainian culture and Carpathian legends in a competitive tabletop adventure. Explore a richly imagined world inspired by Hutsul mythology, face supernatural challenges, gather your flock and prove that you have the wisdom to become the greatest shepherd in the mountains.
