The moon is made of cheese. At least, that’s what the rats of the old junkyard have always believed. Now a mysterious comic has inspired a daring plan: build a homemade rocket, train a crew of fearless rattronauts then blast off towards the greatest cheese feast imaginable. First Rat is a strategic family board game filled with resource management, clever movement and engine building wrapped up in wonderful rodent-sized space race theme.

Lead your rat family through the junkyard as you gather useful supplies such as cheese, tin cans, apple cores, baking soda plus other discarded treasures. Move your rats around the colourful paths to collect resources, improve your capabilities, recruit new rats and then construct rocket sections to earn valuable victory points. Every decision helps bring your lunar mission closer to launch.

Movement is at the heart of First Rat. Send one rat further along the path or move several rats shorter distances, provided they finish on matching colours. Other rat families can occupy valuable spaces, forcing you to pay cheese when you cross paths, while strategically using shops, shortcuts, donations and junkyard discoveries to give your family an important advantage.

As your operation expands, train more rattronauts, gather comics and upgrade your equipment before sending your brave rodents aboard the rocket. The race ends when a family has sent four rats into space or completed eight scoring markers, triggering a final tally to determine who has collected the most points. A dedicated solo mode plus variable setup options provide even more ways to tackle the junkyard challenge.

With its charming theme, approachable gameplay and delightfully inventive take on space exploration, First Rat is an engaging choice for family game nights or strategy fans looking for something refreshingly unusual.
