Inspired by the Japanese art of bonsai, this elegant game challenges you to grow a thriving tree while competing for the honour of displaying your creation in the Imperial Gardens.
 
Each turn, choose between two actions: Meditate or Cultivate. Meditating lets you select a card from the central board, gaining the corresponding Bonsai tiles shown beneath it. Cultivating allows you to place tiles from your personal supply into your growing tree, guided by the symbols on your Seishi tile plus any Growth cards you have available.
 
Your bonsai can develop in many different ways, but placement must be carefully considered because each turn allows only one tile of each colour. As your miniature tree expands, watch the available Goal tiles closely. Whenever your bonsai meets a goal, you must decide whether to claim it immediately or pass on it in the hope of achieving a more challenging objective later.
 
Every tile contributes to your final score, making the shape of your tree just as important as the goals you pursue. Collect the right resources, plan your branches carefully, then create a bonsai that combines beauty with efficient scoring. When the final Zen card is revealed, everyone gets one last turn before the finished bonsai are scored. The player with the highest total earns victory plus the prestigious chance to present their miniature masterpiece at the Imperial Gardens.
